Tennova Healthcare - Turkey Creek Medical Center Welcomes Cardiothoracic Surgeon to Tennova Heart Team

Knoxville, TN (August 21, 2023) – Tennova Healthcare - Turkey Creek Medical Center continues its ongoing commitment to strengthen and broaden its heart care capabilities with the addition of William McAlexander, M.D. FACS, specializing in cardiothoracic and vascular surgery and board certified with American Board of Surgery, fellow member in American College Surgeons and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery.
Dr. McAlexander is a practicing cardiothoracic surgeon who received his doctorate from Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, LA, completed his surgical internship and residency with the University of Tennessee in Memphis, TN and completed his cardiothoracic fellowship with the University of Alabama in Birmingham, AL.

Dr. McAlexander also has a range of related research publications including articles in the Journal American College of Surgeons and the Annals of Thoracic Surgery. He lives in Knoxville with his wife and 3 children and is involved with various volunteer organizations including the Cushcadda Foundation, specialize in delivering surgeons to major disaster areas outside the US, and consultant work for the RealMedicine Foundation providing real time logistical and medical support for medical teams deployed into disaster areas. His hobbies include fishing, hunting, RC airplanes, biking, woodworking, SCUBA and welding.
