Grade ‘A’ is a Testament of Team Dedication to High-Quality Patient Care
Knoxville, TN (November 17, 2022) – Tennova Healthcare’s Turkey Creek Medical Center and North Knoxville Medical Center announced that they were each awarded their 4th consecutive highest grade, an “A,” from the Leapfrog Group for the fall 2022 hospital safety grade scoring period. The Leapfrog Group is a national nonprofit that evaluates the safety, quality and patient experience provided by hospitals across the country. Safety grades demonstrate how well hospitals protect patients from accidents, injuries, errors and infections and is the gold standard measure of patient safety.
Tennova Healthcare’s Turkey Creek Medical Center and North Knoxville Medical Center are 2 of only 25 in the state of Tennessee, to receive an “A” for their commitment to meeting the highest patient safety standards. Only 30% of nearly 3,000 U.S. hospitals have received an “A” grade for the fall 2022 period, making Tennova Healthcare stand out in patient commitment.
“It takes consistent, steadfast dedication to our patients to achieve the highest standards of patient safety. An “A” Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade recognizes Tennova Turkey Creek and Tennova North Knoxville Medical Center facilities for this commitment,” says Tony Benton, chief executive officer, Tennova Healthcare - East Market. “These continued “A” ratings validate the efforts that we put into providing safe, quality care. Every member of the hospital staff deserves thanks and congratulations for our continued diligence.”
Tennova Healthcare is proud to share that in addition to accomplishing this designation for both Knoxville facilities, Tennova Healthcare - Newport has also again successfully achieved an “A” from the Leapfrog Group. This tremendous effort demonstrates Tennova Healthcare’s dedication to successful patient outcomes across the region.
Developed under the guidance of an expert panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses 22 evidence-based measures of patient safety to assign A, B, C, D and F grades to nearly 3,000 U.S. hospitals twice per year. It is calculated by top patient safety experts, peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital ratings program based exclusively on hospital prevention of medical errors and harms to patients. The grading system is fully transparent and free to the public, and grades are updated biannually in the fall and in the spring.
